The Kiriko Range

Our Kiriko decorative lighting range brings the traditional Kiriko glassmaking values of exquisite quality and design into a contemporary setting. Most notably, there are two types of traditional Kiriko glass cutting methods. It is believed that the first type, named Edo Kiriko, was developed in Edo city (now called Tokyo), during the latter part of the Edo period (1834). The second type was developed by the Satsuma clan during the closing years of the Tokugawa regime, through to the beginning of the Meiji period (1846-1877), and is thus named Satsuma Kiriko. As the name suggests, our Kiriko chandelier and lamp series encompasses Japanese sensibilities by combining traditional Kiriko glass, with contemporary decorative lighting design, to bring the elegance and beauty of this glass into the modern home.
